Kampala, Uganda - Grant Thornton Uganda has made a significant impact in the community through its philanthropic arm, the Grant Thornton Foundation. The foundation recently visited the Katalemwa Cheshire Children's Home, a home for children with disabilities, in the spirit of giving back to the community.

The Kitabu Buk Project, a non-governmental organization based in Uganda, recently donated 500 textbooks and other educational materials worth 12.5 million shillings to Okere Community School in Otuke. The school is working to become a leading centre for academic and vocational training in northern Uganda, and its early childhood education program currently provides foundational literacy, numeracy, and life skills training to 60 rural children between the ages of 3-6. The donation from Kitabu Buk Project is seen as a significant boost in the school's efforts to provide quality education to its students.

Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) announced the donation of a universal anaesthesia machine to Mayuge Health Centre IV as a significant contribution to maternal health in the country. The Spirited Women employee group at UBL made the donation, which is dedicated to the empowerment and development of female employees within the company and beyond. The machine, which includes a monitor, vaporizer, and ventilator, can be used manually or automatically, and comes with a six-hour backup battery. It will provide much-needed assistance to expectant mothers at the health centre, particularly those who are having Caesarean Section deliveries.

Dwona Initiative, a non-profit organization based in Kampala, Uganda, launched an advocacy campaign called Let Art Be My Voice to educate people about gender-based violence and promote gender equality. The campaign used art as a tool to reach school children, school administrators, and community members, teaching them about the different forms of violence that girls and women can face and how they can play a role in preventing it.

Uganda Baati Limited (UBL), a member of the Safal Group and a leading manufacturer of building solutions in Africa, recently signed an agreement with the National Forestry Authority (NFA) of Uganda to replant 40 hectares of indigenous trees across the country. The partnership was launched with a tree planting exercise at the Bajo Forest Reserve in the Kayunga district, where the first ten hectares of forest cover were restored. KCB Bank Uganda recently completed a water harvesting project at Gobero Primary School in Yumbe District as part of its ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR). The $30 million Uganda Shillings project was intended to improve access to clean water for 1,500 school-aged children and the surrounding refugee community.The project, according to Michael Ssekyondwa, Head of Retail Banking at KCB Bank Uganda, is in line with the bank's CSR agenda and the United Nations' 6th Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), which seeks to increase water-use efficiency and ensure a consistent supply of fresh water to address water scarcity.

Located in Lweza off Entebbe road in Wakiso district is St.Mary Kevin day and boarding Primary School with a population of about 100 pupils, the largest number of them being orphans.

The Lions Club of Kampala New Century paid a surprise visit to the school and donated 780 books to students and teachers.

The telecommunications company Airtel Uganda recently completed its annual "12 Days of Christmas" initiative by donating a water harvesting system to St. Philip Kyanukuzi Primary School. The donation was made through Airtel's Corporate Social Responsibility program, "Airtel Cares," with the goal of improving access to clean water for the school and its surrounding community. The school has been suffering from a severe lack of clean water for over a year, as the nearest safe water source is more than 2 kilometers away.

On Christmas, Ugandan singer Abdul Aziz Musigazi, also known as Vyroota, went above and beyond to bring joy to less fortunate children. Vyroota, who is managed by Hit-Tower, is known for his diverse musical style, impressive vocals, and hit song "Ndi bulungi."

Vyroota not only shared a meal with the children, but also gave them rice, soap, and biscuits, which would otherwise be difficult for them to obtain.
