AIRTEL'S 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS CONTRIBUTES TO COMMUNITIES
The telecommunications company Airtel Uganda recently completed its annual "12 Days of Christmas" initiative by donating a water harvesting system to St. Philip Kyanukuzi Primary School. The donation was made through Airtel's Corporate Social Responsibility program, "Airtel Cares," with the goal of improving access to clean water for the school and its surrounding community. The school has been suffering from a severe lack of clean water for over a year, as the nearest safe water source is more than 2 kilometers away.
In addition to the water harvesting equipment, Airtel provided the school with computers, a 4G broadband smartbox with internet access, food, tailoring machines, medical equipment, and bedding. These contributions were made as part of Airtel Uganda's "12 Days of Christmas" program, an annual employee volunteerism initiative in which employees support initiatives that make the most of limited resources to have a positive impact on their communities.
Manoj Murali, Managing Director of Airtel Uganda, emphasized the significance of the donation in addressing the need for improved access to clean water and sanitation, which is a key component of the SDGs. He also emphasized the company's commitment to giving back to its customers and communities through initiatives such as "UG Needs More of You," which recognizes individuals who are transforming their lives and communities through the power of technology.
