Philanthropic Campaign "12 Days of Christmas" Brings Joy to Grace Villa
Ecobank Uganda, as part of its commitment to corporate social responsibility, launched the "12 Days of Christmas" digital campaign to give back to individuals and organizations that are positively impacting their communities. Ecobank aimed to support those who are making a positive difference in their communities in various ways through the campaign.
Grace Villa, a nurturing home and sanctuary for orphans, abandoned, and vulnerable girls founded by Ugandan Child Psychologist Ruth Kendegye Ndyabahika in 2013, was one of the winners of the campaign. Grace Villa is a non-profit Community Based Organization registered in Kabale District, Uganda. The home takes care of children brought by the district police, probation officers, church leaders, local leaders, and concerned community members who are rescued from child trafficking situations, child marriages, child-headed households, abandoned in the streets, and more. The girls find nurture, safety, food, education, vocational skills, sisterhood, and counselling in an environment that allows them to thrive.
During a staff meeting the week before, the team at Grace Villa had talked about addressing the urgent need for cups and plates at the home. Whenever 100 and above children were around, they had to eat in turns and wash the dishes in between, a painful experience for the children. In response to the question: “What do you need?” Grace Villa requested for cups, plates, and food.
Grace was surprised by a call from an unknown number from Ecobank Uganda informing her that Grace Villa had been nominated and had won the bank’s 12 days of Christmas campaign.
The awards ceremony was held at Ecobank Uganda's main office in Kampala and presided over by the Managing Director of Ecobank, Grace Muliisa. During the handover ceremony, Ms. Grace Muliisa of Ecobank said, "Ecobank Uganda is committed to making a difference in the communities we serve. Today, we are here to support those who are making a positive difference in their communities in a variety of ways, and the '12 Days of Christmas' campaign is just one of them."
Through the "12 Days of Christmas" campaign, Ecobank aimed to give a boost to change-makers in our society and encourage others to Go for More with Ecobank. The campaign was in line with Ecobank's vision to build a world-class Pan-African bank and contribute to the economic development and integration of Africa. Ecobank remains committed to helping its customers and making a positive influence in the communities it serves.
