Grant Thornton Foundation gives back to Katalemwa Cheshire Children’s Home

Kampala, Uganda - Grant Thornton Uganda has made a significant impact in the community through its philanthropic arm, the Grant Thornton Foundation. The foundation recently visited the Katalemwa Cheshire Children's Home, a home for children with disabilities, in the spirit of giving back to the community.

Mrs. Samali Matovu, the director of the home, has dedicated her life to caring for children with disabilities and ensuring that they realize their full potential. The Grant Thornton Foundation recognized her work and donated foodstuffs worth over UGX. 3,000,000 (three million Uganda shillings) to the home during the festive month of December.

The foundation's impact has also been felt beyond the festive season. In November, they were invited to help offset a debt of over UGX. 24 million Uganda shillings that was incurred through the construction of an orthopaedic store. The foundation donated UGX. 5 million Uganda shillings to help pay off the debt.

"Our participation in such activities is set to continue throughout the year as slowly by slowly we help our communities realize some of their dreams. We might not be able to answer all the needs available, but we have made a resolve to do what is within our power intentionally and consistently," said a spokesperson from Grant Thornton Uganda.

Grant Thornton Uganda has a team of over 120 people and is one of the largest professional services firms in Uganda, offering a wide range of business advisory services in addition to audit, tax, and business process solutions services. The foundation is an extension of the company's commitment to transforming the communities around them.

The foundation's work is a testament to the power of partnerships and the gift of context-conscious corporate bodies. Grant Thornton Uganda has over 50 years of experience working in Africa and has a reputation for diligence, knowledge, and independence. They work closely with Grant Thornton member firms in Africa and around the world to establish and grow businesses in the region.

Grant Thornton Uganda's philanthropic commitment serves as a reminder of the importance of giving back to the community and making a positive difference in people's lives. Their work at the Katalemwa Cheshire Children's Home and the orthopaedic store inspires those who want to make a difference in the world.
