KITABU BUK PROJECT DONATES BOOKS TO OKERE CITY COMMUNITY SCHOOL.

The Kitabu Buk Project, a non-governmental organization based in Uganda, recently donated 500 textbooks and other educational materials worth 12.5 million shillings to Okere Community School in Otuke. The school is working to become a leading centre for academic and vocational training in northern Uganda, and its early childhood education program currently provides foundational literacy, numeracy, and life skills training to 60 rural children between the ages of 3-6. The donation from Kitabu Buk Project is seen as a significant boost in the school's efforts to provide quality education to its students.

UBL’S SPIRITED WOMEN EMPLOYEE GROUP DONATE HEALTH

Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) announced the donation of a universal anaesthesia machine to Mayuge Health Centre IV as a significant contribution to maternal health in the country. The Spirited Women employee group at UBL made the donation, which is dedicated to the empowerment and development of female employees within the company and beyond. The machine, which includes a monitor, vaporizer, and ventilator, can be used manually or automatically, and comes with a six-hour backup battery. It will provide much-needed assistance to expectant mothers at the health centre, particularly those who are having Caesarean Section deliveries.

DWONA INITIATIVE EMPOWERS COMMUNITIES TACKLE GENDER BASED VIOLENCE

Dwona Initiative, a non-profit organization based in Kampala, Uganda, launched an advocacy campaign called Let Art Be My Voice to educate people about gender-based violence and promote gender equality. UGANDA BAATI LIMITED SET TO RESTORE FOREST COVERAGE

Uganda Baati Limited (UBL), a member of the Safal Group and a leading manufacturer of building solutions in Africa, recently signed an agreement with the National Forestry Authority (NFA) of Uganda to replant 40 hectares of indigenous trees across the country. The partnership was launched with a tree planting exercise at the Bajo Forest Reserve in the Kayunga district, where the first ten hectares of forest cover were restored. UBL and NFA employees, as well as members of the local community, participated in the exercise.

KCB BANK UGANDA COMMISSIONS A UGX 30 MILLION WATER HARVESTING PROJECT

KCB Bank Uganda recently completed a water harvesting project at Gobero Primary School in Yumbe District as part of its ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR). The $30 million Uganda Shillings project was intended to improve access to clean water for 1,500 school-aged children and the surrounding refugee community.The project, according to Michael Ssekyondwa, Head of Retail Banking at KCB Bank Uganda, is in line with the bank's CSR agenda and the United Nations' 6th Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), which seeks to increase water-use efficiency and ensure a consistent supply of fresh water to address water scarcity.

AIRTEL'S 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS CONTRIBUTES TO COMMUNITIES

The telecommunications company Airtel Uganda recently completed its annual "12 Days of Christmas" initiative by donating a water harvesting system to St. Philip Kyanukuzi Primary School. The donation was made through Airtel's Corporate Social Responsibility program, "Airtel Cares," with the goal of improving access to clean water for the school and its surrounding community. The school has been suffering from a severe lack of clean water for over a year, as the nearest safe water source is more than 2 kilometers away.

Vyroota brought Christmas cheer to children.

On Christmas, Ugandan singer Abdul Aziz Musigazi, also known as Vyroota, went above and beyond to bring joy to less fortunate children. Vyroota, who is managed by Hit-Tower, is known for his diverse musical style, impressive vocals, and hit song "Ndi bulungi."

Vyroota not only shared a meal with the children, but also gave them rice, soap, and biscuits, which would otherwise be difficult for them to obtain.

She is also known for her zumba dance classes, which have helped middle-aged women "feel sexy and beautiful again" since 2014. In 2004, with only 1,500 participants, MTN, a giant telecommunications company organized a marathon to fundraise and give back to the communities in which the company operated. Seventeen (17) years down the road, an estimated 25,000 people from Uganda and beyond participated in the recently concluded MTN marathon themed Run for Babies; a campaign aimed at curbing neonatal and infant mortality through supporting the improvement of maternal health facilities.

It is unfortunately usual for students in some rural areas to trek many miles to school with only the uniforms they are wearing, and the minimal school supplies their families can afford. Parents of these children often forego provision of footwear in order to provide the immediate essentials for their education. Over 30 pupils in the Rubanda district of the Kigezi sub-region now own brand new, authentic Ugandan-made shoes, all thanks to Naroho Uganda.

Women and victims of gender-based violence have been given the means to reclaim their personal and financial independence and become entrepreneurs.

For a long time, domestic violence has been a widespread problem around the world, and it is almost exclusively motivated by gender. Throughout history, women have been the primary victims of this violence, and Uganda is no different. The husbands of impoverished women often mistreat their wives, and young adolescent girls are married off in an illegal attempt to gain wealth for the family.
