SUPPORT FOR VULNERABLE CHILDREN.

NAKASERO HOSPITAL STAYS TRUE TO ITS PLEDGE.

The hospital has been true to its partnership with Nyaka, a non-profit organization that has dedicated itself to nurturing and protecting children so they can learn, grow, and thrive.

Nakasero hospital was established in March 2009 with the mission of using the expertise of highly skilled Ugandan consultants to offer high-quality, low-cost healthcare to the people of Uganda. It has a proven track record of making it easier for those who otherwise would have to travel abroad for medical treatment to access high-quality care close to home.

It has accomplished this remarkable feat by working with other NGOs whose mission is to help the most disadvantaged individuals in Uganda. Nyaka Uganda is one such NGO; it was established twenty-one years ago and has since expanded to offer a variety of health, education, and community activities to continue nurturing and protecting children. The school children and their caretakers, typically their guardians and grandmothers, can now get free medical care thanks to the health program that was established.

Since 2017, Nakasero hospital has availed over 30 million Uganda Shillings worth of medical supplies to Nyaka, prescribed and administered in their Mummy Drayton Clinic located in Kanungu district. In 2021 alone, the clinic had 4,482 consultations and it continued to receive monthly medical supplies from Nakasero hospital approximated at an incredible 8,587,900 Uganda Shillings for the entire year.  Furthermore, during the Covid-19 pandemic, the hospital supported the clinic with face masks and hand sanitizers to help Nyaka health staff, beneficiaries and community members observe Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

“We wanted to work with Nyaka because they are supporting orphans as a complete human being. They not only make sure orphans are educated, but also provide free healthcare and accommodation for their family units. We felt that we could support Nyaka’s health and nutrition program by contributing medical supplies for the Mummy Drayton clinic.” _  Julius Mugisha, the Marketing, Communication and Client Experience Manager of the hospital.

As a testament to their unwavering commitment, on 4th August 2022, officials from the hospital delivered medical supplies bound for the Mummy Drayton Clinic and Sexual and Gender-based violence healing centers to Nyaka’s offices in Kibuli, Kampala. The founder of Nyaka Uganda, Twesigye Jackson Kaguri, remarked on the donation saying, “Nyaka is grateful for committed partners like Nakasero Hospital, which has supported our health program for 5 years now.”
