Over 6,000 runners braved Kampala’s hills on March 16, 2025, for the Absa KH3-7 Hills Run, rallying under the theme “Change Her Story” to support girls' education across Uganda.
From Kololo to Kibuli, each conquered hill symbolized a barrier overcome, poverty, early marriage, and limited access to menstrual hygiene. With UGX 500 million raised since 2023, the run is more than a race, it’s a movement reshaping futures, one girl at a time.

In Masunkwe Bubuubi, Zirobwe, the Rotary Club of Kasangati, in partnership with Rotary Club of Sebastopol (USA) and the Anthill Foundation, has built a vocational school offering young mothers and school dropouts a free second chance at education and life. With skills in hairdressing, tailoring, and plans to provide startup capital after graduation, the school aims to empower 100 girls every year, helping them reclaim their futures. It’s more than a school, it’s a lifeline of hope, proving that when we invest in second chances, we transform lives.

The Mastercard Foundation is empowering Uganda’s youth through its Young Africa Works strategy, which has already engaged over 3.8 million young people, helping 1.3 million transition into meaningful employment. At a recent event in Kampala, the Foundation spotlighted 30 youth-led enterprises and emphasized the urgent need to expand access to finance, skills, and digital tools, especially for women, refugees, and rural youth. The Legends Marathon 2025 returns on April 13 at Legends Rugby Grounds, Lugogo, inviting runners to “Run For Your Legend” in honor of those who inspire them. With 5km, 10km, 21km, and 42km race options, proceeds will support Athlete Career+, a program empowering athletes with life skills beyond the game. It’s more than a marathon, it’s a movement of purpose, resilience, and community.

The 2025 Kabaka Birthday Run kit has been unveiled under the theme “Men for Good Health to Save the Girl Child,” ahead of the April 6 event. Now in its 12th edition, the run continues to support Uganda’s fight against HIV/AIDS, with Airtel Uganda reaffirming its commitment to community health. Run kits cost UGX 20,000, and every step taken brings us closer to ending HIV/AIDS by 2030.
