GIVING DIGEST: Naguru Go Down Rises: Celebrating Women Who Lead Change
In the heart of Naguru Go Down, a place often overlooked, something powerful unfolded, a celebration of the women who lead, uplift, and transform their communities. Organised by African Women and Youth Action for Development (AWYAD), the event brought together stories of courage, resilience, and triumph, reminding us that investing in women is investing in the roots of real, lasting change.
More than just a ceremony, the gathering was a declaration of belief, in women’s potential to influence systems, nurture families, and rebuild communities from the ground up. Backed by a collective of committed partners including Reach Out Mbuya, Restless Development Uganda, KCCA, RCTLuzira, AWAGOTK, Dream Shade, GL Foundation, Empower Girls Uganda, and Opportunity Uganda, this was a testament to what is possible when organizations join hands to elevate women at the grassroots.
From the mothers mentoring girls, to the young women building enterprises from scratch, every moment was a reflection of strength in motion. Naguru Go Down may be a dot on the map, but its women are shaping waves of change far beyond its borders. When we give to women, we’re not just supporting individuals, we're powering up entire communities.
