Anyone can give! By anyone, we mean individuals, groups, children and even, companies. In the next few weeks, we explore stories of corporate generosity. The forms of giving vary from company to company reinforcing the fact that money is not the only means through which generosity is expressed. Generosity allows you to be creative; give your time, talent, treasure, your space, your expertise, you name it.

Nile Breweries Limited is the leading provider of locally produced beer in Uganda and owns 59% of the market share. Beyond being the leading brewery in Uganda, this company has a streak of generosity it has shown repeatedly.

Since 2020, Nile Breweries Limited has gone all out to generously contribute to government’s effort to fight COVID-19. The company’s generosity has taken the form of awareness campaigns, oxygen cylinder donations and in this story, walk-in vaccination centres.

Nile Breweries set up walk-in vaccination centres of 20 of its distribution sites across the country. The company has chosen to implement this two-day drive to boost country wide COVID vaccination efforts. The vaccination drive was flagged off at Fig Tree Bar and Restaurant Kasanga, a Kampala suburb where the Minister of State for Primary Health Care, Margaret Muhanga presided over the launch of Nile Breweries’ drive.

According to the Independent, the Honorable Minister Margaret Muhanga voiced her appreciation to Nile Breweries commending the company for their consistent support to the Ministry of Health in their fight against COVID-19.

“We need to use such drives to reach to every area so that especially old people are vaccinated so that we can reach target of 4.8M so government can open the economy in January,” the Minister said.

During the two-day drive, Nile Breweries intended to make the vaccine accessible to up to 10,000 at-risk categories of people including the elderly and bar workers who are critical to the work of Nile Breweries.

The Country Director, Nile Breweries stated that the company is committed to safeguarding the health of all employees, customers and the communities in which they live and work.
