Companies are exploring effective strategies to help the areas, sectors, or communities most impacted by their operations. Many firms have embraced the notion of corporate philanthropy, a giving model that may be applied in a variety of ways ranging from scholarship programs to volunteer assistance to community service.
We are all aware that education is vital and that it earns us respect in society. Education provides several advantages. An educated individual is a valuable asset to society who will contribute to the growth of the country. It instills hope in us, allowing us to live a more fulfilling life.Education is especially crucial for the younger generation, as they will be responsible for the society of the future. This is why Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited (UEGCL) has taken the initiative to give to the improvement of education services in Kayunga, Kamuli and Kiryandongo.
The effort grew out of the Community Development Action Plan (CDAP), which aims to improve the education and health systems of communities surrounding UEGCL's various hydropower infrastructure locations. St. Andrew's Primary School Kiyunga in Kamuli district, Nkakatoke Primary School in Kayunga district, and Okwece Primary School in Kiryandongo district are among the schools that have benefited.
Among the many activities undertaken by UEGCL, the corporation collaborated with Gayaza High School to launch the "Mathematics for Me" program. In this venture, the two partners designed a mathematics book for upper primary school (Primary 6&7) that includes problems and solutions to assist students enhance their mathematical skills.
The mathematics questions are solved by Gayaza High School Senior 1 students, and the answers are then incorporated in the book for distribution to the students. Pupils are motivated by their classmates throughout the process, and Senior 1 students are encouraged to share their expertise.
A proper education, according to UEGCL, is essential in releasing the full potential of the human intellect. The corporation vows to continue supporting the education system for the benefit of the entire country of Uganda.
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world,” as Nelson Mandela said.
