Women in Philanthropy Strategy session 2023-24 By Women in Philanthropy South Africa (WiPSA)

On February 2nd 2023, the Executive Committee of Women in Philanthropy of South Africa met in Cape Town to plan the organization's strategy. It was agreed at the end of 2022, as a newly appointed Chair with four new-incoming committee members, that the association needed a fresh start. It was agreed that WiPSA does not exist for information sharing and that its relevance and impact should be reconsidered. WiPSA is fully committed to being a change agent and adding value in the areas of relevant knowledge, equipping the people they serve through providing opportunities to engage, build trust, provoke and challenge existing systems to effect meaningful change.

We believe that where human rights are flourishing, the constitutional state and democracy have better chances. The Netherlands strives to protect and promote human rights all over the world. Prioritises include the protection of human rights defenders, LGBTIQ+ community, and rights for women.

I spent an hour on the evening of Tuesday 20th September at a talk by Fred Swaniker when he visited the African Leadership Academy in Johannesburg to address the students and community there.

Mr. Fred Swaniker is the co-founder of the African Leadership academy, The African Leadership University, and African Leadership X (Software Engineering Institute), a social and serial entrepreneur and Investor. He is one of Africa's foremost philanthropists.

Ms Jacqueline Asiimwe was called up by Nyasha Njela the WiPSA Committee representative, to give the opening remarks, which she did, with the aid of an Ice-breaker called the Weave that knits us together.
