Giving Digest | Every Mile, an Act of Generosity
Twenty-seven runners. One marathon. An extraordinary USD 227,654 raised for children and communities in Uganda.
On November 1, 2026, 27 members of #GoTeamNyaka took on the 26.2-mile New York City Marathon, turning their endurance, time and personal networks into a collective act of generosity. Their efforts raised USD 227,654 in support of Nyaka's mission in Uganda.
For 25 years, Nyaka has worked alongside rural Ugandan communities to strengthen access to education, healthcare and economic opportunities, particularly for vulnerable children and the grandmothers raising them. Through this marathon, runners and supporters demonstrated how people separated by geography can mobilise their resources around a shared commitment to community wellbeing.
