Giving Digest | A Community Building From Within
At Kitabi Parish in Bushenyi, generosity became something you could count, more than UGX 388 million raised in a single gathering.
Christians travelled from St. Kaggwa, Kyamuhunga, Bitooma, Kitabi and Buhimba parishes to support the Archdiocese of Mbarara Development Fund (AMDEF), pooling their resources around a bigger idea: that communities can help build and sustain the institutions they depend on.
The funds will support AMDEF’s work across education, health, and income-generating infrastructure, from schools and scholarships to healthcare facilities and investments designed to help parishes become more financially sustainable.
There is something powerful about giving that begins from within. It says that development does not always have to wait for someone from elsewhere to arrive with the answer. Sometimes, it begins when people look around, recognise what they already have among them, and choose to build together.
More than the amount raised, perhaps that is the story worth carrying forward: a community choosing to invest in its own future.
What becomes possible when communities begin by asking, “What can we build with what we already have?”
