Giving Digest | A Safer Beginning for Every Mother

UGX 40 million in medical equipment and supplies. Twenty hospital beds. Two hundred Mama Kits. A contribution bringing much-needed support to mothers and newborns in Obongi District, Uganda.

Through its October Love Month initiative, Stanbic Bank Uganda donated 20 hospital beds, 30 mattresses, two patient monitors and 200 Mama Kits to Obongi Health Centre IV. The facility serves communities across Obongi and neighbouring areas, including refugee-hosting populations, and handles approximately 1,388 deliveries every year, among them 322 Caesarean sections.

The donation comes at a time when the health centre is operating with only 32% of its required staffing levels. By providing essential equipment and maternity supplies, Stanbic is helping strengthen the facility's capacity to care for mothers and newborns. The gesture illustrates how corporate giving can respond to the everyday needs of public institutions and support the people who depend on them.
