MTN Uganda Connects at the Roots with Alur Kingdom

Some acts of giving show up as handouts. Others show up as systems that last.

Through the 2025 edition of 21 Days of Y’ello Care, MTN Uganda is not just giving; they’re rewiring what giving looks like across Uganda, beginning at the grassroots. With over UGX 500 million invested, this year’s campaign is an embodiment of corporate generosity rooted in community care, dignity, and digital inclusion.

At Alwi Health Centre III in Pakwach, a powerful act of giving took place—quietly, steadily, with tools, not just talk. MTN staff and partners renovated the facility, installing solar lighting, a rainwater system, and upgraded sanitation blocks. They donated hospital beds, planted trees, and handed over eight internet-connected computers to digitize healthcare services.

This was more than a gesture; it was a gift of access. A gift of infrastructure. A gift that says, “Your life, your story, your future, matters.”

As MTN CEO Sylvia Mulinge put it, “This campaign is not just charity; it’s a deliberate investment in Uganda’s future.” That future, especially for young girls facing child marriage, early pregnancy, and dropout, now includes digital tools, youth empowerment hubs, and access to quality care, powered by light, connectivity, and community-centered giving.

At its core, this is African philanthropy: giving that is collective, deeply relational, and anchored in justice. Whether it's a solar panel, a football pitch, or a computer lab, these gifts are designed not just to help but to unleash potential.

From supporting young mothers to arming local artisans with tools to sell their work online, MTN is turning intention into infrastructure and volunteers into vessels of hope.
