Running for Dignity: Absa Uganda Gives UGX 50M to Nyaka

Some runs chase medals. This one chased impact. Through the #AbsaKH3–7 Hills Run, Absa Uganda raised an incredible UGX 50 million, not for profit, but for possibility. The funds were given to Nyaka, a community-rooted organization committed to transforming girls’ lives through education, care, and dignity.

This gift goes far beyond numbers. It translates into menstrual hygiene management products that will help keep girls in school, restore confidence, and dismantle shame around periods. It’s a reminder that philanthropy is not always about the wealthy giving down; it’s about communities rising together.

In African giving traditions, to give is to protect. To ensure that no child is left behind, not because they couldn’t afford books, but because they couldn’t afford pads. Absa’s contribution isn’t just corporate responsibility; it’s Ubuntu in action: “I am because you are.”

When we give like this, we don’t just support education. We safeguard futures. We name dignity. We rewrite what access looks like for every girl, everywhere.

This is how we give. Together. Intentionally. Boldly.
