Uganda Breweries’ Impact on Agricultural
Giving Digest: The five threshers will benefit farmers from Kween, Bukwo, Kapchorwa, Rwenzori, and Northern Uganda, reducing post-harvest losses and increasing their earnings. This initiative aligns with Uganda Breweries' sustainability strategy, which aims to create a positive impact in environmental, social, and governance areas.
During the handover in Luzira, Uganda Breweries Managing Director Andrew Kilonzo emphasized the company's commitment to supporting local farmers, thereby contributing to the agricultural sector's growth, and ensuring a sustainable supply of raw materials. He highlighted that this donation is an investment in the future of Uganda's agriculture, empowering smallholder farmers with essential tools and technology to unlock the sector's potential.
The donation is part of the "Farm for Success" program, which addresses farming challenges and invests UGX 52 billion annually into farmer communities, benefiting 50,000 farmers. Solomon Odongo, representing the farmers, praised Uganda Breweries for providing quality seed, training, and championing youth inclusion in agribusiness.
Joseph Kawuki, Agribusiness Manager at Uganda Breweries, described the donation as a CSR gesture aimed at improving grain quality and reducing the hard labour farmers endure to produce quality grains for the brewery.
