BREAK THE BIAS: Imagine a Gender Equal World.

I acknowledge the strides towards equality. I acknowledge the labor of love of my ancestors. I acknowledge the many women firsts who paved the way for me. I remind myself everyday, not to take their wins for granted.

I acknowledge the baton handed down to me. I acknowledge the work and contribution I have to make to add onto, to weave into the equality basket they weaved for me. I acknowledge that equality begins with me and how I treat those around me. I cannot demand equality from others and yet shun it myself.

I acknowledge my responsibility to speak up, stand with and fight for the sisterhood everywhere. None of us is free until all of us are free. I acknowledge the ills that women still face - the cruelty of bias, the harshness of inequality. It is still a yoke around our collective neck. Abuse against women still goes unchecked.

But my vision for a better world for all women still burns in my heart. It gives me fuel for the the work I/we do, to right wrongs, to resist evil, to demand better. I still believe in the justice of the cause. I still believe in a gender equality world.

March 8th, International Women’s Day, reminds me, reminds us, to March forward, to March on, to March with courage, to March in might, to March one day at a time, one foot in front of the other, towards a bias free world.
