Giving Digest: Giving Through Mentorship: Opening Doors for Uganda’s Young Creatives

Mentorship is one of the ways experience can become a gift to the next generation. Through the Inter University Fashion Challenge, seven established Ugandan fashion designers and entrepreneurs are volunteering their time and expertise to guide university students as they explore careers within the fashion industry.

The initiative responds to a challenge facing emerging creatives who may leave fashion school familiar with designing clothes but with limited exposure to the wider industry. The mentors are helping students explore areas such as accessories, sustainable and inclusive fashion, heritage, styling and entrepreneurship while giving them practical insight into building careers from their creativity.
