Giving Digest | A Hundred Children, a Greater Chance at Life

One hundred children. One new partnership. A collective commitment to helping families facing childhood cancer access the diagnosis and treatment their children need.

On 25th September 2026, the Uganda Child Cancer Foundation (UCCF) partnered with the Uganda Cancer Institute to launch the STARS Project, an initiative designed to support 100 children with specific types of cancer from financially disadvantaged communities. The partnership builds on years of generosity from Ugandans who have contributed towards nutrition, transport and other essential needs for children undergoing cancer treatment.

Speaking at the launch, UCCF Executive Director Moses Echodu acknowledged the generosity that has sustained the foundation's work and shared a longer-term ambition: to establish a system in which contributions from Ugandans could help cover the cost of care before a child even begins treatment. The initiative illustrates how sustained community giving can move beyond responding to immediate needs towards building more reliable systems of support for vulnerable families.
