GIVING DIGEST: Bravery, Generosity, and Community Spirit on the Banks of River Nyamwamba

In a powerful display of community spirit and selfless giving, a team of Police officers, Red Cross volunteers, and local residents in Kasese came together to rescue three children trapped by the raging floodwaters of River Nyamwamba in Nyakasanga, Kasese Municipality.

As torrential rains continue to swell rivers across Kasese, displacing hundreds of families, this moment of collective bravery reminds us that true generosity is often found in action, in risking comfort and safety to protect the most vulnerable. It wasn’t a single hand that saved the children, it was the unity of many. Police officers, humanitarian volunteers, and everyday residents waded into dangerous waters, proving that in moments of crisis, giving isn't just about what we have, it’s about who we are.

As the rains persist and the risk of further displacement grows, these acts of rescue inspire a broader call for continued community support, disaster preparedness, and kindness toward those facing the loss of homes and security.

Generosity is not only measured by what we give, but by how far we are willing to go for each other. Kasese's heroes remind us: together, we save lives.
