GIVING DIGEST: A Call to Empower Deaf Learners in Masaka
On March 31, 2025, Nnaabagereka Sylvia Nagginda made a heartfelt appeal to individuals, government, and corporate bodies to support Masaka School for the Deaf, a safe haven for children with special needs who have long been marginalized.
Founded in 2005 by Francis Kamulegeya and the late Sophia Kafeero, the school continues to be a beacon of possibility for deaf children in Uganda. Despite funding setbacks, its mission stands strong: to embrace deafness not as a limitation, but as a different way of experiencing and contributing to the world.
Through initiatives like “Sponsor a Child” and their growing ICT programme, the school is transforming perceptions, fostering inclusion, and offering digital learning opportunities for a brighter future.
Let’s stand with them. Give a child the gift of education, confidence, and voice, however it is expressed.
Together, we can change the narrative.
