Empowering Digital Futures for Tunaweza Foundation

Giving Digest: On September 14, 2024, in a remarkable effort to bridge the digital divide, MTN uganda’s Digital Access Program made a significant impact through its support of Tunaweza Foundation. This initiative is more than just a donation—it represents a pivotal step towards empowering communities across Uganda with the tools and skills needed for a digital future.

As part of MTN Uganda’s broader vision, the MTN Foundation provided Tunaweza Foundation with ten computers, one year of free internet access, and backup power systems. This support is aimed at enhancing digital literacy and inclusion, particularly for underserved communities and individuals with disabilities.

Tunaweza Foundation, a grassroots not for profit organisation, is dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities to reach their full potential. The organization has been instrumental in raising awareness about disability issues and advocating for the rights of people with disabilities. Aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Tunaweza has already helped thousands lead more independent and fulfilling lives.

Valued at sixty-five million Uganda shillings, MTN Uganda’s contribution will benefit over five hundred individuals by equipping them with vital digital tools and skills. MTN Uganda believes that access to technology is a fundamental right for everyone, regardless of background or ability. This support marks a significant milestone towards a digitally inclusive Uganda, breaking down barriers to ensure every person has the opportunity to thrive.
