Kampala Seven Hills Run Yields 948 million Uganda Shillings

Giving Digest: The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) in Kampala, Uganda, organized the 2023 edition of the Seven Hills Run, a 21-kilometer race, and successfully collected over 948 million shillings. The funds raised through this event will be used to support social causes, particularly focusing on keeping the girl child in school. The unexpected turnout of approximately 8,000 participants exceeded NSSF's initial target of one billion shillings for interventions at selected public schools across the country. NSSF plans to carefully select schools to benefit from the funds, with a focus on public or government-aided schools with strong governance and active Parent-Teacher Associations. The run's impact on previous editions has led to significant improvements in school infrastructure and sanitation facilities, benefiting thousands of students in different districts.
