Airtel Uganda gives to a worthy cause: Health equipment to the UMMB

Airtel Uganda donated medical equipment to Uganda Muslim Medical Bureau (UMMB). The said bureau is the medical arm of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council. Airtel Uganda, a telecom company keen on giving back to community donated medical equipment including 13 delivery beds, 13 oxygen cylinders (inclusive of oxygen), 13 oxygen regulators with humidifier bottles and 13 digital weighing scales for babies. Alongside the medical equipment came 500 MAMA kits and food items for expectant mothers in the selected health facilities.

The generous donation was conducted at Old Kampala Hospital in Kampala by Mr. Manoj Murali Airtel’s managing director as a means of giving back to the Muslim community in the month of Ramadhan. Airtel’s gift was commended by the executive secretary of Uganda Muslim Medical Bureau, Dr. Said Karama as an investment in the improvement of services at health facilities. The Bureau had been providing subsidized medical services to the community and this donation will go a long way in improving their patients’ lives.

Uganda Muslim Medical Bureau has a network of over 60 health facilities all over Uganda including 40 health centre III’s and 20 health centre II’s that will benefit from Airtel’s donation.

"Today we are witnessing a hand of support," said Sheikh Abdallah Ssemambo, Deputy Mufti at the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council, "which we believe is going to reduce maternal challenges in our public health centers countrywide."
