Mutebe, drove to Yusuf’s home with a wheelchair to aid his movement and told him that he was taking him to the city for a tour.

Dear Friends,

With your help, I have bought a van that can help us take homeless or vulnerable children and women to hospital if their condition does not require an ambulance” Read a statement on a Facebook page of Henry Mutebe.

Henry Mutebe is widely known on Facebook for his philanthropic support and compassion towards different people in need of rescue, be it, financial help for medical bills, food and any other assistance. He will personally lend a hand or create a fundraising drive to find a solution for anyone in distress.

The news about him buying a van to help different people and with a label that the car is free to transport children and expectant mothers who find themselves in a situation where they lacked transport to a medical facility, struck many online community respondents to his Facebook post with all sorts of emotions, from praise to gratitude and lots more.

Mutebe says that he saved for a whole year to be able to purchase the van. He saved money from his personal wallet and from the balances from the numerous contributions he received from well-wishers who had previously contributed to several support drives he had initiated.

And to spice up the captivating story of Mutebe’s heart of gold, on 7th February 2021, he used the van to transport Yusuf Kawoya, toddler with a medical condition that has left him incapacitated, for a sightseeing trip around Kampala city.

Yusuf, as he is fondly known, lives almost 30km out of the city and had not moved out of his neighborhood in almost four years, partly because of his condition and partly due to lack of funds to move with him in his state.

Mutebe, drove to Yusuf’s home with a wheelchair to aid the toddler’s movement and informed him that he was taking him to the city for a tour. The little man was more than delighted, that he could not wait to see the huge billboards, the streetlights and several other delights the city offers. Yusuf’s dream had been to see the Parliament of Uganda building, The Serena Kampala Hotel, KCCA offices, State House Nakasero and other ‘tall buildings’ he only chanced to see on TV.

The trip saw Yusuf realize his dream, he visited all the places he had yearned to visit, that it delighted his little heart with immense joy and happiness. Mutebe also gave him a treat at one of the food joints at Garden City shopping mall. Where Yusuf shared his other dreams like, “if he were president for even just one day, he would buy Mutebe and others ‘big Chicken’.”

Mutebe further revealed that in a couple of months to come, he intends to convert the car into a basic life support ambulance, which will be a rescue van to mothers and children who cannot afford the cost of hiring an ambulance or a car for transport. Though in the current state, the van is available to all with cases that do not require ambulance services.

Let us watch out for each other, Keep Safe.
