Uganda Law Society partners with Mengo to Bring Justice
“If you want to go fast, you go alone. If you want to go further, you go together”.
A popular African saying that effectively expresses a commonplace truth, says that “If you want to go fast, you go alone. If you want to go further, you go together”.
The saying is not only true in its literal sense, it also holds water within the philanthropic space. We have seen it sprout in different social activities used to converse resources to enable vulnerable folks i.e., cancer runs and in car washes that Ugandans have collectively undertaken to fundraise for individual or community needs. It only goes ahead to radiate a common goal that there’s impact when people, institutions and organisations came together, great things can be achieved.
This is not intended to water down the impact of individual giving of time, financial or intellectual resources. There is so much that individual philanthropy has accomplished and still does.
However, there are instances that call for collaboration and partnerships. When we collaborate, we bring together complementary resources to accomplish what a single organization or institution would have taken longer to achieve.
This week, we share a story from the Daily Monitor, written by Anthony Wekasa and James Kabengwa, that demonstrates the role of Partnerships and why walking or working together could reinforce philanthropic pursuits.
