Technology expert supports Woman vendor
I decided to spend all the pocket change that I had in my wallet to buy every flower and herb that I could lay my eyes on
We sourced this story off social media, and we thought it was worthwhile sharing on our page because it goes on to tell an African story of giving during the time of COVID. Robert Sebunya is a technology enthusiast. During one of his weekend movements to run his errands, he was astonished to find a lady braving the heavy downpour in Kampala, to make sell of her flowers to earn a living.
While driving through Kololo, one of Kampala’s affluent suburbs, his eyes got imprisoned by a female figure standing under the cruel heavy raindrops. She had no jacket but just a long veil covering herself. On first glance he thought that the lady must be a random homeless person. But the more he continued to assess the environment by the microseconds that ticked away, he noticed that the lady was at work.
He continued his journey to where he was heading. But then a thought lingered in his mind and the disappointment that he had done nothing about the helping the lady.
“Guys… this is a Sunday, and someone is at work in the middle of nowhere, no shade, no nothing perhaps a few foreign embassies in neighbourhood that are widely guarded but can’t shelter anyone. This broke me down and I cried of course without the drama and tears of village mourners” wrote Robert.
Robert realised that he had to do something about it. He took a gamble and drove through the same route just to murder the millions of assumptions he had planted in his head. He found a nursery bed for flowers and herbal trees. And on narrating his story to the people he found around the scene, he was directed to the very woman he had bypassed a few before.
“This woman is a mother of 3 children, she told me her body has gotten used to the rain because for her kind of work every minute counts, she can’t leave her place of work until 8 pm because she doesn’t have the time table of when her customers will come through, she told me she used to get sick but after sometime her body acclimatized to working under the rain after doing it for 3 years, she’s a breadwinner and everyday counts”
I decided to spend all the pocket change that I had in my wallet to buy every flower and herb that I could lay my eyes on, from her story her rent is only UGX 40,000 and a bill of UGX 160,000 is enough to help her pay her rent for the rest of the year and I was glad that this is the best UGX 160,000 have ever spent” Robert continued to narrate.
“Her name is Shamina 0757650118 if you ever use the Lohana Academy route from Acacia Kisementi please support her and buy some of her products, I think she works everyday of the week.”
