The second cohort of leaders gathered at Lakeside Escape for what we call The Experience - The Leaders' Retreat, organised by CivSource Africa.
When women gather, vulnerability shows up. And when she makes an appearance, healing flows. Strength grows. She never disappoints.
I cant explain that pattern. And yet, once again, I saw it in full display - the power in women banding together in brave spaces, sharing their lives openly, and walking away healed. Maybe not completely. But they've left. They are on the journey.
23 brave pioneers, entrepreneurs, NGO heads and activitists, came together and laid themselves bare. The room was filled with courage. With honesty. And with resolve too. Resolve to walk towards small but significant choices which will change something. And then another thing. And another thing. And another. Resolve to collect the pieces of a life that may have been fractured before they came on the retreat.
There's something to be said of a group of people who keep time. 18 of the 23 women travelled by boat. They were all at the pickup point on time. From that moment, I had a good feeling about the group. There's something to be said about that level of resolve. You ladies shall do greatly. You prepared for it and are well on your way.
