WELCOME TO SEASON 8: Giving as a collective - The Rotary Uganda story.
Welcome to Season 8 of the CivSource Africa Comm-UNITY! podcast series. The past couple of years have seen us experience shared crises most notably through the COVID-19 pandemic reinforcing our awareness that we are all connected and that our actions have a profound impact on our neighbors, our community, our nation and our world.
This season, we have the opportunity to profile members from an exemplary organization that embodies philanthropy at its core. Rotary International has for over 100 years now served various communities around the world through the giving of its members and boasts a membership of 1.2 million people. For over 60 years. This ethos has been functional in Uganda and seen the transformation of several communities receiving access to water, proper sanitation and hygiene, basic health care and education.
During Season 8, we shall hear from members of Rotary clubs in Uganda as they share their giving story as individuals, as club members and as members of this 110-year-old giving movement. Join us to hear inspirational stories about Ugandans’ contributions to Rotary’s role in eradicating polio from the face of the earth, about the Rotary Uganda Gift of Life program that enabled open heart surgeries for children, about a Rotary Cancer ward at Nsambya Hospital that provides world class specialized care to cancer patients, the Rotary Uganda Blood Bank at Mengo hospital and so many other amazing works, all emanating from the giving hearts of Ugandans and other Rotarians across the world.
So, join us on this odyssey as we learn, share and grow and demystify philanthropy as seen through the hearts of Rotarians in Uganda.
