“I am happy that all, the 75 were able to get at least 5kgs of maize, 3kgs of beans, a half a bar of soap and pack of salt. We shall always pray for our supporters to receive God's continuous blessings,”

Julius Byaruhanga, a pastor with Singiro’s Independent Baptist Church in Kyazanga Town Council has been feeding the poor during the pandemic-induced lockdown. Not that he has much himself, but the preacher used his platform to make a plea to all and sundry to feed those in dire need. The response was positive, and though his target was to feed and clothe at least 500 people, he started at a good number.

He offered some basic needs packs to 55 needy children; these included clothes, food, sugar, soap, and cooking oil. Sadly with every delivery that was made, the news reached many needy people in the Western Ugandan District. “To our disappointment, the number that came was a bit higher than those we had expected. In fact, the number doubled, it was a clear indication that there were many whom we didn't reach,” he said.

The man of God then pleaded with well-wishers to help: “I have witnessed people looking for food from composite pits. I have seen adults crying for food like beggars in my country Uganda. What you call trash may be of great importance to your brother or sister here.”

The plea was heard by many who helped him deliver food to even more families struggling to get even the day’s meal. “I am happy that all, the 75 were able to get at least 5kgs of maize, 3kgs of beans, a half a bar of soap and pack of salt. We shall always pray for our supporters to receive God's continuous blessings,” an elated Byaruhanga said.

Even as he fed the needy, Byaruhanga emphasized the need for hard work and savings for such tough times. He said that it is a good thing to believe in God’s provision, but humans must also ensure that they have played their part too.
