Earth’s custodians: Rights 4 Her cleans the township of Kiwologoma in Kira Town Council

Remember the earth doesn’t need you, you need the earth. Oftentimes as humans, we have forgotten our cardinal duty as Earth’s custodian. The sight of poorly dumped rubbish, clogged rivers, and drainage channels is not alien to any of us.

The adverse effects of our actions have already been witnessed by the majority of us. If you have not interfaced a flooded road you know nothing about our plight better yet you don’t live in this our beloved country, Uganda.

Flooded roads are not even the cream of our problems, imagine waking up with you on a floating bed… shocker right? Well, all these and more are a result of our carelessness.

To commemorate the World River Day, Rights 4 Her an initiative to protect the human and sexual reproductive rights of closeted LBTQI individuals both in urban and rural areas of Uganda, by cleaning the township of Kiwologoma in Kira Town Council, Wakiso District.

The group together with the Local Council Team plus the community members were able to unclog a number of drainage systems, collect the trash and clean the town. The organisation believes that as part of the problem, we should be part of the solution. So they initiated the Environmental Clinical Project that is aimed to mitigate environmental concerns within communities as well as create solutions.

The Kiwologoma Cleanup was just one of their many and yet to come projects.
