They delivered about 225 Kgs for maize flour and beans and committed to mobilizing more support.
The impact of COVID-19 has created a vacuum on many livelihoods. Sports is one of those areas affected. Many players have found themselves without the day’s meal. However, African and Jewish Lacrosse enthusiasts have donated to a section of Ugandan Lacrosse players.
According to Kawowo Sports, an online sports news site, The August-2020 donation is just one of the many donations since the lockdown was announced in Uganda. They provided food to SilverBacks Academy and the Nile Crocs Teams.
The Africa and Jewish Lacrosse Foundations and enthusiasts agreed that more help was needed and they intend to continue looking for more to share with the teams.
First on the agenda was the Jinja Nile Zulus Africa Lacrosse Academy from Eastern Uganda. They delivered about 225 Kgs for maize flour and beans and committed to mobilizing more support.
“These were handed over to Andrew Mamawi, the director of Jinja Nile Zulus Africa Lacrosse Academy by the Logistics manager representing the Foundation in Uganda, Godfrey Hilary Kimbugwe,” the site reported.
The Lacrosse enthusiasts believe that it is in times like these that many would give up on the game and this is what informed the decision to fundraise and donate to the players.
Though not widely played like other sports disciplines like soccer, Uganda has 10 Lacrosse clubs registered under the Uganda Lacrosse Association (ULA). The game is slowly gaining ground among the country's schools and youth in general.
