Building Financially Resilient CSOs in East Africa

Earlier this year, the convening brought together CivSource Africa (Uganda), the Foundation for Civil Society (Tanzania), and the Kenya Community Development Foundation alongside regional civil society actors to walk through the East Africa Financial Resilience Resource Hub model in detail. Participants reflected on why the hub is being co-created from the Global South, unpacked its core services, technical assistance, creative grant-making for financial resilience, compliance support, coaching, and financial fitness boot camps, and affirmed the shared principles that will guide it, including anti-ableism, anti-patriarchy, anti-colonialism, and anti-racism. Together, they mapped how the hub will become a regional go-to platform for cross-learning, mentoring, and building locally rooted financing models so that small and medium-sized CSOs, especially those in underserved regions, can reduce dependence on external funding and grow sustainably.
