Planting Feminist Futures | Annual Report 2025

Planting Feminist Futures, the CivFund 2025 Annual Report, reflects a year of bold, flexible, and intentional resourcing for civil society across Africa. In 2025, CivFund continued to live out its role as an Afro-feminist fund of funds, planting seeds of trust, opportunity, and justice through flexible, accessible, and responsive funding. Across 12 African countries, CivFund supported partners, movements, artists, grassroots organisations, young feminists, disability justice actors, and civic leaders working to shape more just and thriving communities. Through seven funding streams, expanded fiscal hosting, learning spaces, and global convenings, the report shows what becomes possible when philanthropy moves beyond rigid systems and chooses to trust communities with the resources to lead. Planting Feminist Futures is a record of growth, courage, and collective possibility, a reminder that the futures we long for must be planted, nurtured, and protected together.

Different by Design, the CivFund 2024 Annual Report, reflects a year of bold growth, learning, and intentional resourcing for civil society in Africa. As a giving and grantmaking mechanism within the CivSource Africa Galaxy, CivFund continued to move resources closer to communities, strengthen grassroots action, and support organisations navigating complex civic, social, and economic realities. In 2024, CivFund expanded its reach across ten African countries, awarded 158 grants, supported more female-led and underrepresented initiatives, deepened its fiscal hosting work, and strengthened learning spaces for partners. The report captures a Fund that is truly different by design: flexible, responsive, African-rooted, and committed to building the infrastructure that allows philanthropy to work and civil society to thrive.

Daring To | CIVFUND Annual Report 2023

Daring Too, the CivFund 2023 Annual Report, tells a story of resources moving closer to people, and of communities being trusted to lead change from where they stand. As the grantmaking arm within the CivSource Africa Galaxy, CivFund mobilises, manages, and moves resources in ways that strengthen locally led solutions, support civic action, and respond to community priorities with accountability. In 2023, CivFund continued to support work rooted in dignity, protection, opportunity, and hope, showing what becomes possible when partners, young people, and communities are resourced with intention. The report is not only a record of what was done, but a reflection on what becomes possible when organisations dare to trust communities, resource courage, and stand with those building change from the ground up.
